Press Release by Sazzy Lee Varga, Hollywood Scream Queen
for Vlad
Quigley . com
Vlad Quigley is a London based artist whose work has been
described as Pop Art Nouveau (Pop Art meets Art Nouveau).
Drawing horror comics and art for rock acts such as the
Damned, Dr & the Medics and Captain Sensible, Quigley soon
found himself drawing celebrity Hollywood models.
These included Amanda Swisten, Taylor Kennedy and Sazzy
Lee Varga. On the London front, Vlad teamed up with Page
3 model Vida Garman for a 5-year partnership.
The top Page 3 Agent in London, Mike Diamond at Samantha
Bond Management, represented him. He worked with British
celebrity models including Nikki Diamond (Scorpio form Gladiators),
Jo Guest and Jordan.
At the "Festival Des Bandes Desinees" in France, Quigley
received a Bronze Bust of Vida's character "Viola D'Amour"
in recognition of his contribution to comic art. Quigley
also appears in "Who's Who In Art".
Quigley's latest endeavors include teaming with International
Pin-up Model, Actress, Writer/Director, Sazzy Lee Varga
to create a Pop Art Nouveau (Pop Art meets Art Nouveau)
adaptation of Carmilla by J. Sheridan Le Fanu. Quigley and
Varga give this 1872 classic a 21st. Century twist.
The first thing you will notice in experiencing this artwork
is that it doesn't look anything like, any other vampire
story - it's unusual and not at all typical. Quigley and
Varga bring new psychological depth and gentle sensuality
to the classic Victorian lesbian romance of Carmilla - with
a unique interpretation that blends visual elements of gothic,
baroque and psychedelic space opera with subtlety, poetry
and elegance.
Carmilla was pivotal in the 19th Century horror genre,
creating the lesbian sex vampire and, by extension, the
Vamp. Wildly plagiarized in more films than Dracula, Quigley
and Varga have gone back to the original phantasmagorical
text, capturing the dream-like haunting erotica and bringing
new life to one of the greatest tragic love stories in literature.
In total, some 20+ images will complete this work making
it a comprehensive and dramatic production.
The next remarkable element of this project is that Quigley
and Varga live on different continents. This would certainly
have been a problem for Artist and Muse in the past but
with the advancements in this electronic era they are never
far apart. Digital images taken with specific expressions
in mind are captured by Varga in California and then emailed
of to London where Quigley downloads and prints them out
for reference. This component and more - make this an incredibly
memorable, visually stimulating and ground breaking experience.
Offers are currently being entertained from publishers who
are interested in producing a coffee table book of this
work which is destine to have phenomenal profundity making
a enormous impact on the art world.
This is a must see for all Goth, Vampire and Art fans alike!
Sazzy Lee Varga,
Hollywood, USA.
